These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Skilluxo (the "Platform"), operated as a freelance marketplace connecting buyers ("Buyers") with independent freelancers ("Sellers" or "Freelancers") for the provision of creative and digital services ("Gigs"). By creating an account, browsing gigs, or using any part of the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Skilluxo.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create a Skilluxo account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate, current information at signup and keep it up to date. One person or legal entity may not maintain more than one active account without our written permission.
Skilluxo provides the technology, escrow infrastructure, and dispute-resolution framework that allow Buyers and Sellers to transact safely. Skilluxo is not a party to the underlying service agreement between a Buyer and a Seller — the actual scope, quality, and delivery of work is the responsibility of the Seller, and payment obligations are the responsibility of the Buyer. Skilluxo does not guarantee the outcome, quality, or timeliness of any Gig, though we provide tools (revisions, disputes, reviews) to help resolve issues.
To publish a Gig, you must upgrade your account to a seller and accept the Skilluxo Merchant Agreement, confirming that:
Skilluxo may review, approve, reject, pause, or remove any Gig at its discretion, including for taxonomy, quality, or content-policy reasons.
Gig prices on Skilluxo are listed in US Dollars (USD). Because our payment processor (Paystack) settles exclusively in Nigerian Naira (NGN), the actual amount charged to a Buyer's card, and the amount paid out to a Seller's bank account, is converted from USD to NGN at the prevailing exchange rate at the time of the transaction. This rate may differ slightly between the time of browsing and the time of checkout or payout.
A processing fee (currently 5%) is added to the Buyer's total at checkout to cover payment gateway costs. A marketplace service fee (currently 30%) is deducted from the Seller's earnings when funds are released from escrow. Current fee percentages may be updated from time to time and will be reflected in the checkout summary before you pay.
When a Buyer funds an order, payment is collected via Paystack and held in escrow by Skilluxo — it is not released to the Seller immediately. Funds are only released to the Seller's Skilluxo wallet once the Buyer approves the delivered work, or automatically after a defined review window if the Buyer takes no action (currently 3 days after delivery). Sellers may request a payout of their wallet balance to a linked bank account at any time, subject to identity/bank verification. Payouts are processed in NGN via Paystack Transfers and typically reflect within 24 hours.
After funding escrow, the Buyer must submit clear requirements before the Seller is expected to begin work. The Seller delivers the completed work through the Platform. The Buyer may then approve the delivery (releasing payment), request a revision within the scope of the original Gig, or raise a dispute if the delivery does not match what was agreed.
If a Buyer and Seller cannot resolve a disagreement through revisions, either party may escalate to a formal dispute. Skilluxo's support team will review the order requirements, delivered files, and message history to make a determination, which may include releasing funds to the Seller, refunding the Buyer in full or in part, or requiring additional revisions. Skilluxo's decision on a dispute is final. Abuse of the dispute process (e.g. repeated bad-faith disputes to avoid payment) may result in account suspension.
You agree not to use Skilluxo to:
Upon full payment release, ownership of the specific deliverable created for a Gig transfers to the Buyer, except where the Gig listing states otherwise (e.g. limited-use licenses, stock assets, or source files sold as a separate add-on). Sellers retain the right to display completed work in their public portfolio unless the Buyer requests confidentiality in writing before the order begins. The Skilluxo name, logo, and platform software remain the exclusive property of Skilluxo.
Skilluxo provides in-platform messaging and audio/video calling to help Buyers and Sellers coordinate on orders. These tools are provided for legitimate order-related communication only. Skilluxo may access message metadata (not full content, except where required for a dispute review or legal request) to maintain platform safety. You consent to receive transactional emails (order updates, receipts, security alerts) related to your account; these cannot be disabled as they are necessary for the service to function.
Skilluxo is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Skilluxo's total liability arising from your use of the Platform will not exceed the fees paid by you to Skilluxo in the six months preceding the claim. Skilluxo is not liable for the quality, legality, or outcome of Gigs delivered by independent Sellers, nor for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Skilluxo may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, fraudulent activity, chargebacks, or at our reasonable discretion to protect the integrity of the Platform. You may close your account at any time by contacting support, subject to the completion of any orders currently in escrow.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Skilluxo after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have under the laws of your own country of residence.
